Creativity Booster

Overall, this final piece, or next prototype, is very similar to the last one in shape with more detail and texture added. Most feedback on the prototype was about adding some details so I focused on that in this version.

This was my intense system of cutting up, unrolling, tabbing and prepping for print.

I wanted to experiment with using both subtractive and additive decoration, this light bulb is both.

I can't get over how good this paper looks, especially with the scoring looking like stitching.

Most of the peer feedback I got regarding this was around details and maybe some context. I ended up adding different shapes for the LEDs, very basic shapes, to connect back to early childhood play and learning. You know, matching the shaped blocks to the shaped holes. As this is a functional helmet with electronics I made sure to add a very super functional vent at the back. And as a little nod to Colton's project I added a cutout of a lightbulb as several people enjoyed the connection between our projects.

Overall I think the faceted style of the helmet gives it a pretty good feel but the additional details give it just a bit more without being too much.

I learned a lot from this and really pushed myself to get in touch with that perfectionist side trying to get each line and fold to line up as perfectly and cleanly as I could. Mostly for stuff like this I just call it an "experiment" so I can get away with it not being perfect but this time I tried.
